| Abstract/Contents: | Virus particles were found in the cytoplasm, vacuoles of parenchyma cells and in phloem tissue of infected Cynosurus cristatus, Agrostis stolonifera and Lolium sp. In the cytoplasm the particles were either scattered at random in association with fibrils or enclosed in membrane bound bodies; in the cell vacuole they occurred in membrane bound bodies apparently budded from the cytoplasm or in strands probably associated with cytoplasmic strands. No major ultrastructural changes were observed in cell organelles, although there was an apparent breakdown of the nuclear membrane and an increase in membranes near the nucleus. Membrane bound vesicles, some containing virus, were found in some cells. |
