| Abstract/Contents: | "National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) data is widely used in the turfgrass industry to gauge variety performance in many different environments and under various management regimes. Data is available on seventeen turfgrass species for such characteristics as turfgrass quality, color, density, disease/insect resistance and drought tolerance. However, there is considerable confusion on the proper methods and techniques to interpret this data. Also, there is questionable use of the data by some marketers and purchasers of turfgrass seed. This paper will present guidelines for the proper interpretation and evaluation of NTEP data. Examples of improper data use and subsequent proper use of data will be given. Also, other options for data analysis and interpretation will be offered and discussed." |
