Abstract/Contents:"With the development of improved cultivars of bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds.), it is important to examine methods of interseeding to establish the new cultivars into existing stands of older cultivars. Current interseeding methods, such as verticutting and use of jobsaver airification [aerification] tines, are disruptive to the green surface and reduce playability. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using High Pressure Injection for non-disruptive interseeding. Initial field studies have been successful with minimal loss of seed due to mechanical damage from High Pressure Injection equipment. Effective placement of the seed into the thatch layer of the turf resulted in acceptable germination and stand development. The study included the use of wetting agents for suspension of seed to achieve a more uniform delivery and an evaluation of depth of seed placement."
