| Abstract/Contents: | "A 1996 survey indicated over 90% of Wisconsin schools K-12 used pesticides but 85% had no pesticide use policy. Environmetal advocacy groups have since prompted legislative effords to eliminate pesticide use on school grounds. We developed a three-step approach to assist the development of individualized school pest management programs. The steps were: 1) Production of a manual in 1998, 2) A pilot educational program for six schools/districts with three site visits to each school in 1999, and 3) An expanded educational program for 25 school districts in 2000. An additional 15 schools received the manual with assistance provided only by telephone, email, and a website. The effectiveness of the programming will be evaluated in 1999 and 2000." |
