| Abstract/Contents: | "Experiments for control of Fusarium patch (pink snow mold) and Typhula blight (gray snow mold) were performed on a bentgrass green/nursery at Vail Golf Club, CO (elev. 8000 ft) where snow molds are a recurrent problem. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replications. Individual plots measured 5 ft x 5 ft. Fungicides were applied on 10 Oct 97. A CO₂-powered plot sprayer equipped with 8003 Tee-jet nozzles delivered the fungicides at 30 psi. All fungicides were applied in the equivalent of 5 gal water/1000 sq ft. Light snow fell several days after application; permanent snow cover lasted from late Oct until mid-Apr. Fungicide effectiveness was evaluated following snowmelt on 28 Apr 98. Fusarium patch and Typhula blight occurred together in the same treatment plots and disease pressure was high. All treatments containing Turficide 400 (alone or in combinations) as well as the Eagle/Fore treatment gave complete control of Typhula blight. Turfcide 400 in combination with Heritage, Banner, Chipco, and Eagle gave satisfactory control of Fusarium patch. However, Heritage alone and Turfcide 400 alone did not give adequate control. This is consistent with results obtained in previous years." |
