Abstract/Contents:"The experiment was conducted at the Valentine Turfgrass Research Center, University Park, PA, on creeping bentgrass maintained under golf course greens management conditions, at 0.16 inch cutting height. The soil was a modified sandy clay loam with a soil pH of 7.0. The test area was fertilized on 18 and 30 May with 1.0 lb (Scotts 19-0-17) and 0.5 lb nitrogen respectively per 1000 sq ft, and on 10 and 29 Jun with 1.0 lb and 0.25 lb nitrogen (Lebanon 28-7-14) per 1000 sq ft. Treatment plots, 3 ft x 11 ft, were arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Treatments were applied with a CO₂-powered boom sprayer, using TeeJet 8004 nozzles, at 40 psi, in water equivalent to 2 gal per 1000 sq ft. Applications were made on 9 and 24 Jun, and 7 and 24 Jul, except as noted in the table. The experimental turf area was inoculated on 18 Jun, nine days after the first treatment application, by hand-broadcasting S. homoeocarpa-infested ryegrains, at the rate of 20-30 grains per sq ft. Five isolates of S. homoeocarpa were used in the inoculation. Disease incidence was evaluated on 16, 22, and 29 Jul, and 4 Aug. Data were subjected to analysis of variance, and the mean values were separated by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (P=0.05). Dollar spot disease incidence was high in the untreated check and several other treatments throughout the experiment. However, most of the treatments provided satisfactory control of the disease during the entire period of the experiment. Of the 38 treatments, 31 provided excellent control of the disease by the 4 Aug rating."
