Abstract/Contents:"There is limited research which examines the impact of trinexapac-ethyl (TE) and other management practices such as topdressing on creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris) putting greens in the humid southeast U.S. The objective of our research was to evaluate the effect of TE and topdressing amendment (sand or calcined clay) on color, quality and rooting of creeping bentgrass. The experiment was conducted as a split-split plot with five reps with grass cultivar (Penncross, Crenshaw, L-93, Dominant, Southshore and SR 1020) as main blocks. Split treatments were: 1) no growth regulator or TE applied monthly at 76 g ai ha⁻¹, and, 2) sand or calcined clay topdressing applied monthly. Color, quality and rooting response to TE varied with bentgrass cultivar. Increased quality ratings were often seen in TE treated plots in winter months, but application of TE in the summer decreased root length index of some bentgrass cultivars."
