Abstract/Contents:"The test was initiated on an established sward on a Maury silt loan [loam] at the U. K. Turf Center near Lexington. The turf was mowed at 0.22 (=7/32) in., irrigated as necessary, and fertilized with 1.5 lb N as urea in Oct and Dec 97. Plots measuring 4 ft x 4 ft were arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. All treatments were mixed immediately before being applied with a hand-held, CO₂ sprayer fitted with Spray Systems 8003E flat fan nozzles delivering 2.5 gal/1000 sq ft. Control treatments were sprayed with tap water, then biocontrol treatments were applied, followed by the fungicidal treatments (with tap water rinses between applications). Granular materials were applied by hand using a polypropylene jar with a perforated lid. Primo Liquid growth regulator and Dimension 1EC herbicide were included to test the hypothesis that these products affected anthracnose severity. Estimations of disease and turf quality were obtained visually. Weather was generally seasonable during the test, and high disease pressure allowed rigorous evaluation of treatments. Several tank-mixes and Daconil Ultrex provided excellent control of the disease. The products Companion, LS-238, and PD 100/200 Plant Wash, failed to provide and measurable control of anthracnose. An application of Dimension 1EC herbicide caused a significant increase in anthracnose severity, but the disease was effectively controlled when Daconil Ultrex was used. A biweekly combination of Heritage 50Wg and Curalan 50DF provided excellent disease control but negatively affected turf density. Several tank-mixes and alterations of tank-mixes provided excellent disease control and turf quality."
