| Abstract/Contents: | "'DW 184'creeping bluegrass, Poa reptans, and 'Sabre II' rough bluegrass, Poa trivialis, were overseeded at 6, 9, 12, and 15 pure live seed (PLS) cm⁻² into a 'Tifdwarf' bermudagrass, Cynodon spp. putting green on 16 Nov. 1998 at Gainesville, FL. DW 184 required 7.0±0.9 d while Sabre II required 7.4±1.4 d to produce 50% overseed cover. Grasses and seeding rates differed without interacions throughout the 30-d study. Counts of seedlings, tillers, and leaves increased linearly with seeding rate when evaluated at 1, 2, 3, and 4 wk after seeding. Ground cover composition of seedlings, tillers, and leaves averaged 16.3, 16.4, and 60.1 cm⁻², respectively, at highest seeding rate when evaluated 30 d after seeding. Stand density increased from increased leaves per seedling. At 30 days after overseeding, counts of seedlings cm⁻², tillers per seeding, and leaves per seedling averaged 13.8, 1.00, and 3.82, respectively, for DW 184 compared to 9.9, 1.00, and 3.78, for Sabre II. Alhough highest overseed rate of 15 PLS cm⁻² was considered to be more than adaquate for a good seedling stand, a threshold value was not attained in this study." |
