Abstract/Contents:"To quantify variability of drought stress in C4 turfgrasses Tiffway [Tifway] 419 Bermudagrass, Common Centipedegrass, Prairie Buffalograss, El Toro Zoysiagrass, Raleigh St. Augustine, and Adalayd Seashore Paspalum were grown simultaneously in .05mĀ³ pots. Fritted clay was the growing medium. Grasses were randomly planted in each pot, and allowed to establish for 90 days. Grasses were fertilized with the equivalent of 0.204g N per mĀ² of a balanced fertilizer every 30 days. Grasses were irrigated to minimize drought stress during establishment. After establishment, irrigation was withheld for 42 and 84 days. Leaf samples were collected on a weekly basis for leaf water potential measurement. Visual ratings of color, percent live tissue and leaf roll were made on a weekly basis. After each treatment period plants were clipped to 5 cm, irrigated and rated on a weekly basis for plant recovery."
