Abstract/Contents:An experiment was carried out in 1976 on loadable vegetation layers of the "Dikopshof" Experimental Farm of the Institute of Plant Cultivation in order to study the specific influence of construction materials and substrates on the long-term development of organic matter. Higher absolute values of the soil/sand mixtures were frequently higher than the percental rates of increase of the lava/sand mixtures. In the first 7 years (in other words, the interim from 1976-1983), the rates of increase were altogether higher than in the following years up to 1997. Thus, the organic matter in the less loaded vegetation layers developed better at first when intensively burdened. This difference, however, was mostly balanced in the following years. Peat, hygro humus, hygropor 73 and Agrosil LR were added as supplementary materials. Their effectiveness abated through the years and was replaced or covered by the effects of the plant. A comparison between peat and hygro humus was clearly in favor of peat.
