| Abstract/Contents: | "Applications of ethofumesate were made in summer 1998, winter '98/'99, and spring 1999 to annual bluegrass (Poa annua) infested bentgrass (Agrostis palustris) and perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) fairways. Summer rates of ethofumesate to bentgrass were 0.28 to 2.24 kg ha⁻¹. Winter applications were made to bentgrass at 0.84 and 2.24 kg ha⁻¹. Three winter applications were made to perennial ryegrass fairways at 4.48 and 8.97 kg ha⁻¹ and more than 5 applications were made to bentgrass at 0.84 and 1.68 kg ha⁻¹ in the spring. Summer treatments did not reduce Poa significantly, but the quality of bentgrass and Poa were improved. Three winter applications made to bentgrass and ryegrass resulted in 50% and 100% Poa control by May, respectively. Spring treatments gave little Poa control at 0.84 kg ha⁻¹. Severe bentgrass damage occurred at 1.68 kg ha⁻¹. All winter and spring applications reduced Poa seedheads." |
