Abstract/Contents:"The objective of this study was to determine the effects of Bio-ceramic, Profile, Axis, and Bio-flex-a-clay on the soil hydraulic parameters of a sand-based media. These inorganic materials were added to a sand-based green at 15% v/v during construction in 1996. Data collected on the field areas included saturated hydraulic conductivity (K^D[sā‚^D[t), water retention, water release curves, bulk density and total porosity on both undisturbed and recompacted samples collected from the treated plots one and two years after establishment. The cation exchange capacity (CEC) of Profile treatment was 8% and 7% higher than the control in 1997 and 1998 respectively. Profile increased the K^D[sā‚^D[t by 26% and 20% in the recompacted and undisturbed samples in 1998. Axis increased water retention by 13% in both recompacted and undisturbed samples. K^D[sā‚^D[t of all treated plots was reduced by 75% in November of 1998. The K^D[sā‚^D[t values in the spring of 1999 increased from the low levels of 1998 by 19.2% (Bio-flex-a-clay), 43.5% (control), 58.6% (Bio-ceramic), 72.1% (Profile) and 81.7% (Axis)."
