Abstract/Contents: | "This experiment was conducted on a bermudagrass fairway at Black Mountain Golf Course in Black Mountain, NC. The soil had a pH of 4.8 and 1.08% humic matter. Plots 5 ft x 5 ft were established in an area with a history of heavy grub infestations. Early season applications of insecticides were applied on 17 Jul under sunny skies with air temperature of 84°F. Late season applications were made on 21 Aug under similar conditions as mentioned above. All treatments were replicated four times in a RCB design. Treatments were applied using hand-held shaker jars with perforated lids. The fairway irrigation system was used to apply 0.25 inch water immediately after application. All plots were sampled by digging up two, 1 ft² areas of turf per plot and making actual counts of the grubs present. All data were transformed (square root of x + 0.05) prior to ANOVA and DMRT. Sixty-nine DAT (early season application) and 34 DAT (late season application) (24 Sep) sampling showed that all treatments except Turcam 2.5G soluble at 1.9 lb, Grub-EX at 1.4 lb, and Dursban 1G at 2.5 lb significantly reduced the numbers of grubs relative to the check." |
