Abstract/Contents:"This trial was conducted at Sagamore Hampton Golf Club, North Hampton, NH. Four treatments, four replicates each, were applied to 49ft² plots during the egg-laying period on 16 Jul. A second Naturalis-T application was made to 2ⁿ^D]d instar grubs on 5 Aug. Liquid formulations were applied with a 2-wheel bicycle boom sprayer, equipped with 8005 nozzles, fitted with 50-mesh screens; the screens were removed for Naturalis-T applications. The volume of water and insecticide mix per plot was 2gal/1000ft², delivered by CO₂ pressure at 40 psi. Granular formulations were applied using commercial salt shakers. The Naturalis-T plots were irrigated before and after application to approximately 0.5 inch each time. Other treatments received 0.5 in post-treatment irrigation. Application conditions were as follows ion 16 Jul: air temp, 80.8°F; sky, hazy; wind, calm; soil temp, 82.8°F at surface depth 77°F at 1-inch, at 2-inch, 75.6°F at 2-inch depth. On 5 Aug, application conditions were as follows: air temp, 79.9°F; sky, partly cloudy; wind, light breeze; soil surface temp, 79.5°F at surface, 76.6°F at 1-inch depth, 73.4°F at 2-inch depth. General soil conditions were as follows: pH, 7.2; moisture, 19.5%; organic matter, 12.2%; soil texture, sandy loam; sand, 57%; silt, 34%; clay, 9%; thatch depth (natural), 0.5 inch. The plots were rated for live EC grubs on 23 Sep by cutting the turf with a 12" sod cutter and rating 1ft² per plot. Merit was the only treatment that gave acceptable control."
