Abstract/Contents:"This trial was conducted at Kingswood Country Club, Wolfeboro, NH on a fairway mowed at 0.5 inch. On 30 and 31 Jul, treatments were applied in 49ft² plots in a RCB pattern, 7 replicates per treatment. All liquid formulations were applied with a 2-wheel bicycle-type CO₂ boom sprayer, using four 8005 nozzles with 50-mesh screens. The volume of water and pesticide mix per plot was 2gal/1000ft², delivered at 40psi. All granular formulations were pre-measured and evenly dispersed with large salt shakers. Treatments were hand-irrigated at various intervals. There was no rain or other irrigation on this site for several days. JB larvae were predominantly egg to first instar. Weather conditions on 30 Jul were as follows: air temp, 66.4°F; sky, cloudy; wind, calm. Soil conditions were as follows: surface temp, 67.8°F; temp at 1-inch depth, 67.3°F; at 3 inches, 67.1°F; soil pH, 6.2; dry matter, 72.7%; moisture, 27.3%; organic matter, 7.3%; soil texture, sandy loam; sand, 69%; silt, 21%; clay, 10%. On 31 Jul, air temp was 66.7°F; soil temp at surface was 70.3°F; at 1-inch depth, 69.3°F; at 2-inch depth, 69.1°F; dry matter, 82.2%; moisture, 17.8%; thatch depth (natural), 0.25 inch. The trials were rated the week of 19 Oct by cutting 4ft² per plot, counting the larvae in the crown and underlying soil. All treatments performed well and irrigation made no difference."
