Abstract/Contents:"This trial was conducted at White Mountain Country Club, Ashland, NH, on a rough mowed at 2 inches. The treatments were applied on 10 Sep, applied in 49ft² plots in a RCB design, 5 replications per treatment. All liquid formulations were applied with a 2-wheel bicycle-type CO₂ boom sprayer, using four 8005 nozzles with 50-mesh screens. The volume of water and insecticide mix per plot was 2gal/1000ft², delievered at 40 psi. The granular formulations were pre-measured and evenly dispersed using large salt shakers. JB larvae were third instar. All plots were irrigated with 0.5 inch of water. Weather conditions were as follows: air temp, 65.3°F; sky, partly cloudy; wind, 10-15 mph. Soil conditions were as follows: surface temp, 69.1°F; temp at 1-inch depth, 67.1°F; at 2-inch depth, 65.7°F; soil pH, 5.2; dry matter, 73.4%; moisture, 26.6%; soil texture, silt loam; sand, 17%; silt, 67%; clay, 16%; thatch depth (natural), 0.5-1 inch. The trial was rated on 12 to 14 Oct. The plots were rated by cutting 4 ft² in each plot, counting the grubs in the crown and the underlying soil. There were no significant differences among the chemical treatments. The late season application against 3rd instar larvae depressed overall efficacy. However, in most cases control was adequate. Rate effects were possibly masked by variability in thatch depth and thatch moisture."
