Abstract/Contents: | "This trial was conducted at Rochester Country Club, Gonic, NH against second generation adult weevils. This bentgrass green was heavily infested with annual bluegrass. On 6 Jul, treatments were applied to 24.5ft² plots, four replicates per treatment in a RCB design. All liquid treatments were applied using a 2-wheel bicycle-type CO₂ boom sprayer, four 8005 nozzles with 50-mesh screens. The volume of water and pesticide mix per plot was 2gal/1000ft² delivered at 40psi. All granular treatments were pre-measured and evenly dispersed using a large salt shaker. Both Deltagard formulations and the Tempo/Merit tank mix were irrigated to 0.1 inch after application. The low rate plots of Deltgard SC were treated a second time on 20 Jul and were irrigated. This green received daily irrigation. On 6 Jul, the weather conditions were as follows: air temp, 77.2°F. The soil conditions were as follows: surface temp, 82.2°F; temp at 1-inch, 76.6°F; at 3-inch depth, 73.6°F; soil pH, 5.7; moisture, 21.7%; organic matter, 3.8%; soil texture, sand; sand, 92%; silt, 3%; clay, 5%. On 20 Jul, the temperatures were as follows: air temp, 89.2°F; surface temp, 88.9°F; temp at 1-inch, 84.4°F; at 3-inch depth, 81.0°F. On 19 Aug, this trial was rated for live ABW larvae and pupae using 4" diameter cup cutters; four samples were taken from each plot. All treatments performed well. DeltaGard G showed significant phytotoxicity on the bentgrass green due to the ammonium sulfate carrier." |
