| Abstract/Contents: | "This trial was conducted at Indiana Mound Golf Club, Ossipee, NH. All treatments were applied on 14 May to 140ft² plots, four replicates per treatment in a RCB design on a practice fairway. All treatments, except Advance, were applied with salt shakers. A teaspoon was used to apply Advance to individual active anthills. The Chipco and Talstar granulars were irrigated to 0.1 inch. Weather conditions were as follows: air temp, 79.4°F; wind, 0-5mph. Soil conditions were as follows: surface temp, 83°F; temp at 1-inch, 75.4°F; at 2-inch depth, 71.0°F; texture, silt loam; sand, 29%; silt, 58%; clay, 13%; moisture, 30.4%; organic matter, 11%; soil pH, 5.4; thatch depth (natural), 0.125 inch. Initial counts of active anthills on each plot were taken just prior to application; counts were then taken every 7 days thereafter for 4 wks. Only Talstar showed control. No phytotoxicity was observed." |
