| Abstract/Contents: | "This trial was conducted at the edge of a soccar field mowed at 2 inched at Holderness School, Holderness, NH. All treatments were applied on 6 Aug to 24.5-ft² plots, replicated four times in a RCB design. All treatments were applied using a 2-wheel bicycle boom sprayer equipped with four 8005 nozzles, fitted with 50-mesh screens, and delivered at 40 psi by CO₂ pressure. The treatments were irrigated with 0.1 inch water. Chinch bugs on sight were predominantly 3^D]r^D]d instar to adult. Weather conditions were as follows: air temp, 81°F; sky, overcast; wind, <5mph. Soil conditions were as follows: surface temp, 81.1°F; at 1-inch depth, 77°F; soil pH, 5.3; moisture, 11.9%; organic matter, 6.2%; texture, loam; sand, 50%; silt, 38%; clay, 12%; thatch depth (natural) 0.5 inch. The plots were rated on 11 Aug and 21 Aug for live bugs using the cylinder/floatation method. Only Dursban provided significant control at 5 DAT. At 15 Dat the high rate of Tempo 20WP and Dursban performed well." |
