Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to "determine the tolerance of 'Prairie' and 'NE609' buffalograss to Daconate 6® herbicide." Notes that "treatments were evaluated using a visual rating scale of 1 to 9 with 1 representing no visible signs of phytotoxicity or discoloration on the turfgrass and 9 indicating severe phytotoxicity or dead grass." Results indicate that "both Prairie and NE609 buffalograsses appear to be tolerant to a 1 oz./1,000 ft² rate of Daconate 6 followed at a 2 week interval by a sequential application of the same rate" and "Prairie buffalograss exhibited satisfactory tolerance to three applications of the 1 oz./1,000 ft² rate of Daconate 6, to two applications of the 2 oz./1,000 ft² rate of Daconate 6 and to one application of the 4 oz./1,000 ft² rate of Daconate 6." Notes that "due to differing degrees of tolerance to Daconate 6 between the two varieties observed in this study, it is suggested that other varieties, especially those which are seeded, undergo similar evaluations." |
