Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the "hollow spot" injury associated with depressed areas which harbor the remnants of snow and ice. Notes that these areas "are a definite menace to early spring turf recovery and growth." In addition to retaining surface water, these areas also more fertilizer than allotted. Suggests that "checking surface drainage before definite growth starts in the spring allows turf growers to remedy the fault in contouring, filling and planting or re-turfing the newly raised area to become one with the surrounding surfaces and present a uniform appearance early in the growing year." |
