| Abstract/Contents: | Provides information on the GCSAA's Performance Development Initiative (PDI), the purpose of which is to "improve the knowledge, skills and abilities of the professional superintendent that will contribute toward improved playing conditions and the enjoyment of the game of golf." Notes that the Member Standards Resource Group has provided recommendations on how "membership in GCSAA should be based on a set level of competencies, combined with formal education and experience as a golf course superintendent." Beginning in October of 1999, this group will begin visiting various chapters of the GCSAA. Encourages readers to attend these visits and voice their opinions about the initiative. Presents a comparison of current and proposed initiative requirements and a "frequently asked questions about the PDI" section. |
