Abstract/Contents:"In a study of spring-seeded cereals and timothy treated with fenamipos and lime, the root lesion nematode Pratylenchus crenatus and the stunt nematode Tylenchorhynchus dubius were not associated with the root rot fungus Bipolaris sorokiniana in a disease complex. The nematicide fenamiphos reduced nematode numbers in the cereals and timothy. Fenamiphos treatments increased wheat and barley yields in two seasons of a 3-yr period, while oats and timothy yields, with the exception of one year for timothy, were not increased. Lime treatments in general did not affect nematode populations, though in a few instances numbers of stunt nematodes in soil increased and those of root lesion nematoeds in roots decreased when lime was applied. Root rot severity in wheat, and barley was not affected by the lime treatments. Yields of wheat, barley, and timothy were higher when lime was present."
