Abstract/Contents: | Addresses the question, "Will a mulching mower reduce thatch buildup in my Kentucky bluegrass lawn?" States that "mulching mowers...have little effect on thatch buildup because thatch consists principally of grass stems, not grass blades. Unlike the grass blades, stems contain high levels of lignin, which slows their breakdowns." Suggests alternative methods of thatch reduction. |
