| Abstract/Contents: | The plots in the National Bermudagrass trials at MSU are now five years old. This experiment contains 28 different entries. Some are standard commercial cultivars and some are new experimentals. Seven of the entries are seeded types. Three of the vegetatively planted types belong to MSU. The experiment has been planted at approximately 20 locations from coast to coast. Some of the measurements which are being taken include rate of establishment, genetic color, spring green-up, late fall color., texture, seedhead frequency, disease resistance, and overall turf quality. The plots at this location have been held at a low level of maintenance. Last year they received a total of 2 lbs of Nitrogen per 1000 square feet. So far this season they have received 1 lb. Herbicide use has been minimal since the establishment year. Included is a list of entries and sponsors. Table 1 shows turfgrass quality per year through 5 years (1989-1980) for each entry a 5 year average is included. Table 2 gives a T grouping of the spring green-up ratings for each entry from 1987 -1990 along with the mean. Table 3 gives a T grouping of seedhead frequency rating for each entry from 1987-1990, along with the mean. |
