| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a perspective of U.S. golf courses by a UK visiting turfgrass agronomist in the Agronomist Exchange Program with the USGA Green Section. Highlights some of the challenges being seen by superintendents in the face of U.S. public demands and expectations for the courses. Includes information on a collaboration between Audubon International and the USGA to formulate the Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary Program for golf courses, promoting sound ecological land management, the conservation of the natural resources along with fostering positive benefits to the public outside the courses. Highlights problems with pest management, trees, and treatments done to ensure course playability. |
