Abstract/Contents: | Discusses golf courses as a service industry. Suggests that golf course managers have something to learn from other service industries like fast food restaurants and movie theaters, and that lower end, middle-of-the-road and daily-fee clubs have something learn from "the high enders." Points out that "although 3 million people take up golf each year, the same number drop out." Also discusses "untapped groups" of potential customers, like women and children. Suggests that the attitude of course employees and the presentation of the course can persuade customers to return, or have the opposite effect. |
