Abstract/Contents:"Effective preemergent control of Poa annua in high quality turf areas continues to be a concern of managers everywhere. Questions have surfaced pertaining to Barricade's efficacy in preemergently controlling this cool-season weed. This study addressed application timing and its effect on preemergent control of P. annua. Mid-month applications of 2 rates of Barricade were made starting 15 July 1995 and continuing through 15 Oct. 1995, on a 30-yr-old stand of non-overseeded Tifdwarf bermudagrass (Cynodon sp.). Visual estimations of percent control of P. annua were made 26 Jan. 1996, 21 Feb. 1996 and 4 April 1996. With the exception of the Oct. applications, all previous applications produced excellent preemergent control of P. annua. When applied and incorporated according to label recommendations, this study indicates that Barricade does preemergently control Poa annua."
