| Abstract/Contents: | "The 1993 Sand Modified Bentgrass trial contains 30 entries of creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds.), and focuses on identifying cultivars with significant improvements in environmental adaptability. Through evaluations for several turf performance characteristics and in conjunction with the national testing program we intend to find stronger bentgrasses for golf greens which are more disease-resistant, more durable and require generally less cultural inputs. According to the 4-yr. results, Southshore was ranked highest with a TPI=56. Also in the top group were A-1, 'Pro/Cup' and 'Regent' (TPI=54). However, except turf quality, turf characteristics examined in this study were similar among entries." |
