Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study "to quantify the amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus in the runoff water from lawns and the amount of nitrate-nitrogen leaching beyond the root zone of turfgrass." Results indicate that "subsoil compaction such as that occurring around construction sites and the landscaping practice of layering topsoil over subsoil do not increase runoff from turf...the amount of nitrogen leached was equivalent to 1.44% of the fertilizer nitrogen applied." |
