Abstract/Contents: | Describes the performance of perennial ryegrass cultivars in four turf trials, focusing on turf quality, disease, establishment, wear tolerance, and steminess. States that "although significant improvements have been made on perennial ryegrasses, genetically stable resistance to gray leaf spot, crown rust, dollar spot, pink patch, red thread, and brown patch are needed. Furthermore, increased heat tolerance and cold hardiness and the ability to survive under ice sheets for extended periods are also necessary characteristics to develop a more desireable, persistent, turf-type perennial ryegrass." |
