Abstract/Contents:Describes a study comparing the effects of three fertilizer sources and three water dilution rates on fertilizer burn on Manhattan perennial ryegrass. The fertilizers are N-Sure, formolene, and urea. Each fertilizer source was diluted into 1, 2, and 4 gallons of water/1000 ft2. Perennial ryegrass was maintained at 2 inch mowing height. Treatment were applied on June 10 and August 9, 1987. A third application was scheduled for spring of 1988. In June, the N-Sure treatment demonstrated consistently better quality (less burn) than did formolene or urea. While N-Sure did have some burn, the quality never went below an acceptable quality level. In summary, the use of N-Sure resulted in less fertilizer burn, and increasing water volume decreased the amount of fertilizer burn. Further study needs to be done to investigate fertilizer rates and water volumes.
