| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses two studies to determine the efficacy, reliability, and safety/phtotoxicity of preemergence herbicides on crabgrass. In study 1, "preemergence herbicides were monitored for crabgrass efficacy and safety/phytotoxicity on a mature stand of Kentucky bluegrass." In study 2, "several preemergence herbicides selected from Study 1 were monitored for crabgrass efficacy and safety/phytotoxicity on a young stand of Kentucky bluegrass." States that "those latter herbicides/rates exhibiting previous breaks in efficacy/control, in general, continued to show increases in crabgrass infestation/cover." Notes that "Dimension 0.035 FG exhibited 100% crabgrass control." Study 2 results showed that "herbicide efficacy was actually very similar to that reported in Study 1," and that "Dimension 2 EC (0.25 lb ai/A) and Barricade both provided excellent season long crabgrass control." |
