Abstract/Contents:BAS 9052 OH, diclofop and CGA 82725 were evaluated for preemergence activity following postemergence applications on large crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop). CGA 82725 at 0.56 kg/ha and diclofop at 1.1 and 1.7 kg/ha exhibited considerable preemergence activity following postemergence applications. In comparison to a control with an average crabgrass population of 4/929 cm2, CGA 82725 at 0.56 kg/ha reduced crabgrass population to 1/929 cm2 and BAS 9052 OH at 0.56 kg/ha all with a population of 4/929 cm2 and BAS 9052 OH 0.28 kg/ha with a population of 6 crabgrass plants per 929 cm2. Significant differences in dry yields occurred between CGA 82725 at 0.56 kg/ha with 8.7 g/9.14 m2, and all other treatments except diclofop at 1.7 kg/ha with 15.7 g/9.14 m2. By comparison dry yield of the control was 21.6 while yields of other treatments ranged from 16.9 to 29.2 g/9.14 m2 also provided significant reduction in crabgrass growth as compared to the lower rate of BAS 9052 OH (0.28 kg/ha) with 29.2 g/9.14 m2. Neither treatment differed significantly from the control. Despite the significant reduction in crabgrass population in diclofop treated plots, the dry yield was not significantly different from the control.
