Abstract/Contents:Summarizes research in developing "analytical methods for [detecting] imazapyr and chlozolinate residues in water after using simulated sunlight...and to investigate their degradation mechanisms in presence and in absence of various sensitizer compounds." Imazapyr and chlozolinate compounds were irradiated using a mercury lamp and kept at a constant temperature with the use of flowing water. Analysis of the compounds was done using liquid chromatography equipment after each sample was extracted and dried. The metabolite identities were then compared against spectra recorded in literature for confirmation. Results found: chlozolinate undergoes hydrolysis and decarboxylation processes which produce several metabolites, "photoproducts of chlozolinate are likely to be present as residues in aquatic ecosystems," and the rate of degradation of imazapyr followed first order kinetics.
