| Abstract/Contents: | "Preemergence herbicides have been used for goosegrass (Eleusine indica Gaertn.) control on many close cut, heavy traffic areas with moderate success. Since other herbicides are available and variations in their use are possible, it was the purpose of this study to determine any improvements in goosegrass control that might be feasible. Of the available preemerge turf herbicides oxadiazon was the most effective for goosegrass control. This material is considered risky on bentgrass-annual bluegrass turf, but it has adequate safety for goosegrass control in Kentucky bluegrass-ryegrass turf. Various methods of improving preemerge control of goosegrass should be considered. With limited work on combining chemicals, napropamide at 1 lb/A with bensulide appears one of the more promising treatment." |
