Abstract/Contents: | Four tests were conducted to evaluate chemicals for the suppression of seedheads and top-growth of close-cut Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) and to determine the influence of trim mowing and fungicides. Retardants were more effective when used in May or June than in September. Certain treatments with CGA-17020, CGA-24705, CME-10950-P, CME-10951, MBR-12325, MH, RO-7-6145, Sustar, UNI-5108, UNI-5708, UNI-5730, and UNI-5734 provided good seedhead and top-growth suppression but caused some injury. Results were less favorable with EL-509, Ethephon, PP757, and RP-7846. The use of trim mowing and fungicides did not alter growth suppression. Fungicides provided some reduction in grass injury. |
