Abstract/Contents: | Twelve liquid fertilizer programs using four nitrogen sources are used in this test. Turf is cut at 2" and clippings are removed. The four fertilizers are Urea, Powder Blue, Fluf, and Formolene. They were applied using different application schedules and three different application rats. Each schedule received 4 lb N/1000 ft2/growing seasons. One program was balanced over April, May, August, and September. Another program emphasized spring fertilization and a separate program emphasized fall fertilization. High, medium and low maintenance Kentucky bluegrass cultivars are treated. Data on visual quality and clippings removal is given for cultivars, fertilizer sources and fertilizer programs. Interaction of these three variables on quality is given on a month-by-month basis. The study showed the balanced and heavy spring programs produced the best visual quality overall. The late fall program produced significantly more roots. |
