| Abstract/Contents: | Six different preemergent herbicides (Dacthal, Ronstar, Bensulide, Balan, Pendimethalin, and Prodiamine) are used at two different rates. Also, one postemergence crabgrass control (Acclaim) is tested. The experiment was divided into high and low maintenance regimes. The high maintenance received 4 lb N/yr and supplemental irrigation. The low maintenance received 1 lb N/yr and no irrigation. Chemicals were applied on April 25 and watered in. Rooting samples were taken in late May, late June, and late July. Rooting variability was checked at 1-3 in and 3-6 in depth. There were no significant reductions in root due to the herbicides either by depth or in total root weight on any of the sampling dates. This could be due to the lack of heat and drought stress on the plants because of the mild summer. |
