Abstract/Contents:Article discusses winter hardiness, heat and drought resistance, texture, density, wear tolerance, and mowing characteristics of improved turf-type varieties of perennial ryegrass. 20-26 varieties are evaluated for winter injury, brown patch resistance, brown blight resistance, and density. Color, shade tolerance, establishment, seed quality and other factors are also discussed. Varietal characteristics for 27 varieties are provided.
