| Abstract/Contents: | Herbicides were used to kill Zoysia japonica ('Meyer') at several rates on three dates (June 3-4, July 13-15, and September 13-17) in separate experiments in 1973 and 1974. Final notes on responses in the two experiments were taken in June of 1974 and 1975, respectively. Single treatments of glyphosate at 4 lb/A on five dates left 1% stand on zoysia four times and zero stand once; the 2-lb/A rate left 2 and 4% stand. In 23 of the plots where glyphosate treatments were repeated two or three times in a season, no zoysia survived at rates ranging from 1 to 4 lb/A; however, 2% of the zoysia plants survived in one plot given three repeated treatments at 4 lb/A. Results with paraquat were inconclusive: In 1973, 2 lb/A paraquat treatments repeated on three dates left an average of 7% zoysia plants; in 1974, zero. Two treatments (repeated) of 10 lb/A of dalapon per season killed all zoysia plants in both 1973 and 1974 experiments. A 40-lb/A treatment of siduron repeated on three dates in 1973 had no observable effects on zoysia. |
