Abstract/Contents: | States that "Pythium root dysfunction is caused primarly by P. arrhenomanes and has been found only on reconstructed, high-sand content golf greens on old golf courses" and usually only occurs during the first or second year following establishment of the turf. Discusses the cause of this disease and states that "the gradual establishment of a competitive microbiology in the sand eventually contains the activity of the Pythium." Concludes that new cultural techniques must be tested to control this disease and briefly mentions a study conducted using cornmeal to observe disease development during the 1986 growing season. |
