| Abstract/Contents: | "The machinery employed in the lawn-landscape care business often represents a substantial capital investment. The annual cost associated with this investment is likely to be a significant part of the total cost of doing business. Management must, therefore, continually evaluate the machinery cost for various lawn-care jobs and take the appropriate stops to reduce these costs. To buy new (or used) or lease a particular machine can be an important decision and have a major impact on machinery costs. When to replace machinery is also a critical decision that will often greatly influence business success." Discusses topics involving tips on estimating an equipment budget, operating costs, comparison between buying and leasing a machine, justifying the cost of a machine for labor saving purposes, and how to determine when to replace a machine. Also includes examples of an annual machine cost estimate, an annuity or capital recovery table, and a table showing how to evaluate machinery replacement. |
