| Abstract/Contents: | Two studies in each of two years were conducted to evaluate postemergence control of white clover (Trifolium repens L.), mouseear chickweed (Cerastium vulgatum) and dandelion (Taraxacum officinale Weber.). Rainfall occurring shortly after three of the four tests appeared to influence the results. Variable control of dandelion was observed with all applications of 2,4-D. The data indicates that combination of 2,4-D with one or more of the following -- dicamba, mecoprop or silvex -- provided good (80-90%) broad spectrum control and in certain cases greater than 90 percent control. A newer material RO-7-6145 at 8 lbs gave good control of chickweed and dandelion. PP-831 provided better than 90 percent control of clover and chickweed. The chemical VEL-4207 could be substituted for dicamba, and dichlorprop could be substituted for the chemicals used in the 2,4-D combinations for clover and chickweed control in turfgrass areas. |
