Abstract/Contents:"Treatments were applied with a CO₂ pressurized (34 psi) sprayer equipped with flat-fan (8010) nozzle, and calibrated to deliver 2.5 gal water per 1000 sq ft. Treatments were applied on various spray intervals on the dates footnoted in the data table. Soil was a Sassafras sandy loam with a pH of 6.0 and 2.5% OM. Turf was maintained at 0.60 in., and was fertilized with 3.0 lb N/1000 sq ft/yr in the fall. Plots were 5 ft x 5 ft, and were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replications. Percent of plot area blighted was assessed visually on a linear 0 to 100% scale where 0=entire plot area green and healthy, and 100=entire plot area blighted. Ratings exceeding 2 and 4 % blight would be considered unacceptable for golf course putting greens and fairways, respectively. A small amount of blighting was present when treatments were initiated on 11 Jun. Disease pressure was severe throughout most of the trial. Extended dry weather, however, resulted in a reduction in disease severity by early Aug. Serenade and Florodox had no effect on brown patch. This may have been due to some blighting having developed at the time treatments were initiated. All other treatments provided excellent brown patch control between 25 Jun and 21 Jul, except Spectro (2.0 oz) (all data not shown). The low rate of Spectro apeared to begin losing its residual effectiveness on 14 Jul (i.e, 5 days since last applied), but provided good control until 21 Jul (i.e, 21 days since last applied). Plots treated with Aliette Signature plus Chipco 26GT exhibited a decline in control on 21 Jul, and were severely blighted by 28 Jul (i.e., 19 days since last applied). Aliette Signature plus Daconil Ultrex, however, provided excellent control until 4 Aug (i.e., 33 days since last applied). Spectro applied at 4.0 and 6.0 oz gave good control until 4 Aug and 11 Aug, respectively. Spectro + Compass applied on the 14-day interval provided excellent control throughout the study, and as late as 11 Aug (i.e., 32 days since last applied) these plots had blight ratings within the commercial threshold. Plots treated with Spectro (2.0 oz) on the 14-day interval were more severely blighted (i.e., resurgence) than untreated plots on 11 Aug."
