Abstract/Contents:Describes three separate turf evaluation trials of fine fescues were established on a loam soil at the Soils and Crops Research Center in Adelphia, New Jersey. Plot size was 3 x 5 feed with three or four replications in each test. Broadleaf weeds were controlled with a mixture of 2,4-D and dicamba applied as needed in the cool seasons. Crabgrass was controlled on the two oldest tests with a preemergence application of Dacthal. No fungicides or insecticides were applied. Mowing height was 3/4 inches on tests one and two. Test three was mowed at 2 inches. Clippings were not removed. Soil pH was maintained between 6.0 and 6.5. Fertilizer applications are listed in Table A. Subsequent tables show some of the recent data (means of two fertilizer levels) from cultivars of fine fescues. Performance of certain experimental fine fescues appears promising. Data on these will be presented as they are given cultivar names and become commercially available. Includes tables rating the performance of fine fescues in the 1977 through 1979, also includes tables showing the reactions of fine fescues to dollar spot, table rating fine fescues on winter color, and a table showing the reactions of fine fescues to net blotch.
