Abstract/Contents:"Experiments for control of Fusarium patch (pink snow mold) and Typhula blight (gray snow mold) were performed on a bentgrass green/nursery at Vail Golf Club, Vail, CO (elev. 8000 ft) where snow molds are a recurrent problem. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replications. Individual plots measured 5 ft x 5 ft. Fungicides were applied once on 13 Oct 98, with the exception of 3 treatments that were applied twice at 14-day intervals on 30 Sep and 13 Oct 98. A CO₂ -powered plot sprayer equipped with 8003 Tee-jet nozzles delivered the fungicides at 30psi. All fungicides were applied in the equivalent of 5 gal water/1000 sq ft. Permanent snow cover did not occur until mid-Nov and cleared by late Mar 1999. Overall, snow pack was poor all winter. Fungicide effectiveness was evaluated following snowmelt on 7 Apr 99. Fusarium patch and Typhula blight occurred together in the same treatment plots. Disease pressure was low to moderate. All treatments performed adequately. However, plots treated with Turfcide 400 4L exhibited phytotoxicity (totally brown color). Turf in the Eagle + Fore treatment was high quality with a dark green color. Other treatments were intermediate."
