Abstract/Contents:"Fungicides were evaluated for control of powdery mildew in a commercial field of Kentucky bluegrass ('Geronimo') grown for seed near Madras, Oregon. Standard cultural practices for grass seed production were followed with the exception of fungicide applications. Soil was sandy loam with a pH of 6.9. Fungicides Tilt, Folicur, Bayleton, Quadris, Microthiol, and Microthiol plus Tilt were applied 17 Apr to 10 ft x 25 ft plots replicated four times in a randomized complete block design. Fungicides were appplied with 8002 TwinJet nozzles on a 9 ft CO₂ pressurized, hand-held, boom sprayer at 40 psi and 20 gals of water/A. The surfactant Silwet L-77 at 1 qt/100 gal of water was applied in combination with all fungicides. Plots were evaluated using a rating scale from 0 to 5, with 0 being no mildew present and 5 indicating total foliar coverage. Pretreatment evaluation of the plots was conducted 16 Apr, with post-treatment evaluations on 28 Apr, 5 May and 14 May 98. Tilt, Folicur, Bayleton, and Microthiol alone and in combination with Tilt significantly reduced the presence of powdery mildew from 11 to 27 days after application compared to untreated plots. Quadris was ineffective."
