Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the control of Veronica (Veronica filiformis) based on work conducted at the Pennsylvania State University. Reports the results of research using split applications of preemergence materials (both experimental and commercially available) for crabgrass control. Results indicate that Dacthal 75W provided excellent control of Veronica filiformis, even at rates lower than the label recommended. When the Dacthal 75W was tank mixed with mecroprop (both at recommended rates) excellent control of clover and other broadleaf weeds was also found. Also reports an experimental material (ACR 1255) which contained 2,4-D, MCPP, and an experimental growth regulator (Ro7-6145) provided excellent weed control (including veronica) (some injury occurred on rough bluegrass, bentgrass, and creeping red fescue). Concludes that Veronica filiformis can be controlled, but it is early to state whether other species of Veronica (serpyllifolia, officinalis, and arvewse) can be as effectively controlled. |
